Plumbing:New Jersey home inspection inspect the interior water supply and distribution systems including functional water flow and functional drainage, excluding wells, well pumps, well water sampling or water storage related equipment, determination of water supply quantity or quality and water conditioning systems and lawn irrigation systems; all interior fixtures and faucets, excluding shut off valves, wells, well pumps, well water sampling and water storage related equipment; drain, waste and vent systems; domestic water heating systems, without operating safety valves or automatic safety controls, and excluding solar water heating systems; combustion vent systems excluding interiors of flues and chimneys; fuel distribution systems; and drainage sumps, sump pumps and related piping. New Jersey home inspections will describe the predominant interior water supply and distribution piping materials; predominant drain waste and vent piping materials; and water heating equipment including energy sources. NJ home inspectors are familiar with the new type water heaters. New Jersey home inspectors will not inspect hot tubs or spas.Check faucet and hose connections under sinks and toilets. Look for leaks at shut-off valves at sinks, toilets, laundry equipment, and main water shut-off valve. Is the water pressure adequate? Do all the drains run freely? In a basement or crawl space home, pull back floor insulation to check for leaks and wood damage around water supply pipes, drains, and water closet. Check sinks, tubs, and showers for proper drainage. Remove hair from drains. When necessary, use a snake or plumber's friend to unstop drains--or call a plumber. Check the pressure relief valve on the water heater. Open it to see that it is working. Check for signs of leaking or rusting. Some manufacturers recommend that a small amount of water be drained periodically from the tank, be careful that you do not burn yourself if you drain the water heater. NJ home inspection will describe and inspect all the visible plumbing in the house, both the supply and waste systems. This includes: visible condition of water feed lines, the waste pipes and vent stacks. Plumbing repairs are very expensive and our NJ Home Inspector will examine each and every system very carefully. The main water supply line and shut off valve will be inspected and shown to the client so he or she will know where to shut off the water in case of an emergency. Also included in the plumbing inspection is the laundry which includes the washer and dryer connections. And, the plumbing to all the fixtures in the house will be inspected and tested.
